The University Interscholastic League (UIL) has released the update for the 2007-2008 Texas Dodge Dealers Lone Star CupTM, honoring the best overall athletic and academic programs in Texas. High schools accumulated points based on their team performance in district and state championships. The Woodlands is just the third school since the inception of the Lone Star Cup to win the award multiple times. The Woodlands, Kingwood and San Antonio Churchill hold this honor.
THE WOODLANDS WIN INAUGURAL CHRONICLE CUP Similar to the University Interscholastic League's annual Lone Star Cup award or NCAA Division I's Directors' Cup, the Chronicle Cup goes to the programs that showed the most success in all UIL-sanctioned sports. The Woodlands claimed the Class 5A championship with 143 points. The Highlanders compiled points for the Chronicle Cup in 18 of the 21 sports, including cross country, golf and swimming and diving. They also often find success
in the popular team sports such as football, baseball, volleyball and basketball, and this year they had strong seasons in soccer and track and field. |
